Razer Blade Laptop
Guys, if I wasn't into my desktop I might get this. Being older now, just seems unrealistic for me. And it's expensive. It is going to cost $2800. At least that's the latest.

Re: Razer Blade Laptop
The wireless sucks on this thing. It only supports 2.4 Ghz. A good gamming laptop has to have 5ghz card for the fastest transfer rates at reliable frequinces. Otherwise its a nice laptop. Still 2 expensive for me though. I would go with the ASUS laptop for $1200 that will do the same thing. The Blade is runs for $2800. Big difference in price for most of us.
Re: Razer Blade Laptop
I wouldn't say the wireless sucks. 5.0ghz is nice, but is more effective when you are closer to the router. 2.4ghz has more distsnce and is commonly used. At least wireless N is on there, right? I would like 5.0ghz, as well. Maybe they will have it on the final release.
I'd swap the hard drive out though. Put a 240gb OCZ Vertrx 3 solid state drive in there. Use the 320gb as a backup drive. Hard drive should have been a solid state at minimal due to the nature of the laptop. It's for gaming! Well, a gaming laptop can be used for anything. It's beefed up to handle everything.

Update
Razer announced that the original 320gb HD is now going to be a 256gb SSD HD. Price stays the same.

Re: Razer Blade Laptop
Why the RAEG over the wireless capability? Any gamer worth their 'trons plugs their rig DIRECTLY into the rounter, right?
Plus, not like you can't buy an external 802.11n transciever... or change out the factory wireless card for one that supports n.
You got the cash for this, you got the cash for a different connection device.
Only three USB 2.0 ports? Oh well, at least you got 3.0 ports, too.
Me? Asus G70-whatever.

Re: Razer Blade Laptop
3 USB's is a lot. Most laptops come with 2. Some gaming coming with 4 maybe. This has the 4th one being USB 3.0. Not seeing an issue in regards to that.
Agreed with the wireless card. I'm sure it's dual band but they are not listing it as such. I could be wrong. It's modern tech to have both bands now. Only laptops not able to are old ones, normally.

Re: Razer Blade Laptop
The G50V has four 2.0 slots, but no 3.0 slots. But at least with the 3.0 slot, you coudl plug that into an external drive and take full advantage of the bandwidth. External SSD, maybe?

Now you're thinking. MUAHAHA. SSD external. Me thinks Ian is building BIO Weapon that deals 224 damage over a period of 3 seconds. Only quad-cores can kill him.pvtnum11 wrote:The G50V has four 2.0 slots, but no 3.0 slots. Re: Razer Blade Laptop
pvt cast NECRO on thread.
So I decided on my replacement for the venerable G50 - a G55. Smaller than the massive G75's, but packs comparable hardware and a similiar much-praised cooling system so I don't have to worry about boiling my graphics card any longer. 1200 bucks off of Amazon new. About the same size overall to the older G50, so it'll fit on my desk and in my laptop bag just fine. Reviews are all high, but everyone seems to be going SQUEEEEE over the G75. Bigger is better, I guess?
Pffft, I use an external monitor, and I'm used to the 15-inch display of the G50 anyway.
Just need to scrounge up for it, possibly by the end of this year.
The only thing the 55 really lacks over the Blade is the Optimus video technology (and 1500 dollars in price) - you can't switch between using the Intel integrated graphics stuff on the i7 chip or the nNidia card - it's 660M power all the way, to the detriment of battery life.
As you can see, I'm all out of flips to give about that.

Re: Razer Blade Laptop
Ordered the G55 from Amazon (which means I get it with Windows 7, NOT Windows 8, yaaaaaay). Now I'll have to think of how I want to disposition my G50. Ashley doesn't like having to play Minecraft on her little netbook since it's "laggy" due to a lack of video processing clout, but if I was to do that, I predict it would only survive a few months - one does not simply give a six-year-old a gaming laptop and expect them to take good care of it.
And yeah, did someone hack your login and hash out that post?
