Tim's Nvidia Thread

As promised, the thread to talk about the Nvidia thread. I guess we were raining on the ATI thread a bunch, but just check my sig that Tim gave me.

Is it hijacking if I start the thread?

I'm thinking about seeing if the GeForce 260M is any good, as it seems that the 300M series isn't all that just yet.

I had done some reading, but yes, I'm leaning towards the 260M card. I'm not sure how upgrading laptops works though, like, how does one ensure they don't stuff too much for the power supply to reliably handle? Is that even an issue with their limited internal volume?

It's all connected, and one has to think about it in terms of how will all these parts work together?

im not sure if we can even upgrade our card. we would have to ask Best buy or ASUS themselves. Anyone want to make that call to both?

Roman, I'll have to peruse some forums, maybe our card is tacked onto the MB instead of being integrated. But I have a hard time believing that Nvidia integrated a card directly onto the main board. I'll post up what I find or something.

intel any good it must be to play mw2 on lowest graphics my dads vid card rocks ATI 4330 directx 10 ofcourse but it can do graphics half as well as roman t.'s card so thats decent.

Okay, I didn't find anything totally solid, but it would seem that the word on the street is that our G50V laptops have some wierd interface slot for the graphics card - it's all mirrored or something odd, so if you want to replace the graphics card for a new one, you have to go through ASUS. Which means, basically, it'll cost more, and that's even if they would sell them to you.

But I'm still looking. I might crack mine open and take a look inside, unless Roman's already voided his warranty...? We got the same thing...

Nvidia GTX 480 is almost here. Snip below:

Awesome. That'll be the card I'd want for whenever I make a desktop rig.
