Windows 7 Fax Empty Windows 7 Fax

Post by Zhies Tue Dec 15, 2009 9:10 am

I was looking at my Windows 7 options today, specifically I was looking at the installed programs, and I noticed a Fax Modem is installed on the computer. This is a hardware device. This was a big suprise to me, because I knew there was a Microsoft Fax, but I was not aware that your computer was automatically a fax. I have seen several online faxes with monthly rates of anywhere from 10 - 30 dollars a month. That can beat a landline connection with Hawaii Telcom, who wants about 30 dollars for a leased phone line.

I did all this research as I was looking for a modern way to fax stuff for my wife (I had to add the word "stuff", because my wife said that the sentence sounded like a was faxing my stuff for "to get" a wife online). I knew there had to be a more convenient if not freeware of doing this. All of the freeware that I was able to find was only the software that is compatible with the costly service providers. I haven't tested the online fax yet, but I will soon.

I did find a website, where you can receive faxes and store files at (up to 500GB), and the website is totally free. I signed up and I did not have to include any payment information. If you want to know this site then ask me in person and I'll give you the tip. I'll do it under the table... if you know what I mean Tim

Windows 7 Fax Empty Re: Windows 7 Fax

At the house, we just bought a device that allows us to have the All-in-One printer in one room and the phone line in another. It's about $79.99 at Wal-Mart and I'm sure you can get it cheaper. Basically, you don't have to physically move your fax device to another room with a phone line just to use it. It does it wirelessly.

I'm not sure at all about being able to receive faxes without some kind of stand alone fax or multi-function printer.

If your computer has a old school telephone modem built into your motherboard then you can use that modem jack in your pc to send and reseve faxes using the microsoft fax option. just plug your home phone cord into your pc. you will be only able to send already stored documents on the computer though unless you have a scanner device which will convert your scanned image to a digital document for modem faxing. Since scanners are rarly sold saparetly it would be easier and cheaper to get all in one wireless printer fax scanner copier for $70 at sam's club and use your home phone line like I do. As for the cool AC to phone line adapters which use your existing wall sockets in two different rooms to patch a phone line through your existing electirical wireing, Yes its very easy and convenent. here is a link. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10730581&sourceid=1500000000000003142050&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=10730581

Windows 7 Fax Empty Fax over IP

Post by Zhies Fri Dec 18, 2009 9:57 am

I do not have a Home Phone, because I never use one, and it would cost me an extra $30 for the line. I was hoping there was a FoIP (Fax over IP) which I could use the Windows Fax modem for. Incoming faxes would of course be a little strange, and I guess the compatibility with other people's faxes is where it really begins to get confusing. I guess FoIP is really just FTP, because there is no backward compatibility with the old Fax Systems... Too bad.

Good news! The site that I was thinking of where you get 500GB storage for free. You can have faxes sent to that 500GB of free storage, and they have the cover letter for you. They provide the entire faxing service for free, but it is only incoming faxes. The site is called File123.com. I am not sure how secure it is, and I don't know much about the company. But hey! If you want a free fax and free storage for your unsensitive information then sign up for File123.com. Thats File - 1 - 2 - 3 - dot - com!

Necro post...

I remember using my old computer's modem to call my house - We could hear my dad through the teeny modem speaker "hello? hello?" until he hung up. I asked him if he got a wierd phone call that day, and all he could hear was beeping and static. LOL. Anyone remember the horrors of AOL?

This was some old 14.4k piece of junk external on an Apple IIc, by the way.
